Who doesn’t love a summer music festival? And ooh la la, aren’t they even more enticing when we can groove to the latest sounds from the capital of cool? Jean-Francois Ponthieux is bringing So Frenchy, So Chic
back on Friday 11 January, so you can listen, dance, dine and recline at the French pop garden party.
So Frenchy, So Chic
is JF’s brainchild. The French music enthusiast came to Australia more than 20 years ago on a trip around the world, and was later offered a 457 visa. After starting his working life in Australia in marketing and business, he branched out into music, including partnering with INXS manager Chris Murphy on a digital radio project.
He went on to produce world and electronic music compilations before starting his own record label, which morphed into French music compilations, tours and now festivals, since 2012.
“I realised that French music to many Australians was old, like Charles Asnavour or Edith Piaf, but no-one was showcasing new French music,” JF said.
One of those new artists was Camille, who is returning to Australia in January at So Frenchy, So Chic
. The French festival will let you lounge around on the banks of the Torrens, listen to hip music and feast away.
