Is your business ready for Single Touch Payroll?

The Australian Taxation Office is changing the way employers report tax and super information. From 1 July 2018, if you have 20 or more employees, you need to use Single Touch Payroll.

STP reporting is mandatory for employers with 20 or more employees. When reporting through STP, you will no longer be required to provide your employees with Payment Summaries.

If you have 20 or more employees, you need to start using Single Touch Payroll-enabled software to report your:
  • payments to employees such as salaries and wages
  • pay as you go (PAYG) withholding
  • super information

You need to send this information to the ATO at the same time as you pay your employees. You can also get a third-party provider, like a tax professional or payroll service provider to report through Single Touch Payroll on your behalf.

You can ask your payroll service provider or your tax professional about how to get ready for Single Touch Payroll.
