October is National Safe Work Month in Australia and while workplace injuries and fatalities are steadily on the decline, there is still work to be done. Together with workers and employers we can all make South Australian worksites safe places to be.
If you’re as serious about workplace safety as we are, we’d love you to come and join us during National Safe Work Month and hear from one of our senior workplace experts.
Business SA is pleased to partner with SafeWork SA and is offering free training and information sessions in regional locations.
Our regional offerings for Safe Work Month include:
Tuesday 9 October in Mount Gambier: Drugs and Alcohol in the Workplace
Aimed at business owners, supervisors and managers, this session will explore the extent of drug and alcohol misuse in Australia and the financial cost to businesses.
You will be provided with an understanding of your obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012, and advice on what to do if you suspect a worker may be misusing drugs and/or alcohol in the workplace.
Thursday 18 October in the Barossa: Mental Health in the Workplace
This course will look at mental health from a number of different perspectives, providing a clear understanding of workplace obligations under privacy, disability discrimination, workplace relations and safety laws.
We will discuss, with the benefit of case studies, how to effectively support and manage employees with mental health conditions, as well as how to build a mentally healthy workplace.
Make your commitment to building a safe and healthy workplace by participating in National Safe Work Month this October.
