The South Australian Business Chamber, South Australia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has announced a stellar line-up of speakers for its 2024 International Women’s Day event which will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 8 March 2024.

The South Australian Business Chamber has partnered with the Australia Day Council of South Australia to present Tiahni Adamson, Wildlife Conservation Biologist, Rachael Zaltron OAM, Founder of Backpacks 4 SA Kids and Sister Meredith Evans, Sister of Mercy, who will headline the event’s amazing program.

The lineup is comprised of winners of categories in the 2023 South Australian of the Year Awards and offers a diverse ensemble of female leaders, with impressive backgrounds spanning entrepreneurship, social justice, faith, and community.

Tiahni Adamson, voted the 2024 Young South Australian of the Year is a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman descended from the Kaurareg Nations. Tiahni is a passionate sustainability advocate who has worked with the CSIRO on Indigenous education programs, trained under Al Gore as a Climate Reality Leader in 2019 and fostered relationships between First Nations communities and government.

Tiahni is currently the lead community engagement officer at climate change solutions company CH4Global, where she ensures Indigenous knowledge is embedded into CH4Global’s projects.

Rachael Zaltron OAM, voted SA’s Local Hero, founded Backpack 4 SA Kids out of her garage in 2013, out of a desire to help foster children within her community by providing them packages full of essential items at incredibly stressful times in their lives.

Fast forward 10 years and Backpack 4 SA Kids under Rachael’s leadership is now assisting over 3,000 South Australian kids every year and growing.

Sister Meredith Evans, SA’s 2024 Senior Australian of the Year has dedicated her life to helping the vulnerable and inspiring others to do the same. During her vocation, Sister Meredith has provided kind, non-judgemental care and assistance to refugees, young people, women experiencing homelessness, women exiting violent relationships and women leaving prison, to name a few. The Sister has also established institutions and networks of advocacy groups that have benefitted many community causes.

This unique and inspiring event will be facilitated by event MC Elspeth Hussey from 7NEWS.

The annual luncheon is known as a must-attend event on the business calendar, and the fourth of its kind for the Chamber. Previously held at SkyCity and Adelaide Oval, the South Australian Business Chamber has relocated the 2024 lunch to the Convention Centre, accommodating a doubling of capacity following three sell-out years.

We are looking forward to welcoming a massive crowd this year at Adelaide Convention Centre. We hope to see business leaders bringing their staff along to hear our speakers, enjoy a fantastic lunch, and embrace the meaning behind International Women’s Day” the South Australian Business Chamber’s CEO Andrew Kay said.

The theme this year is #CountHerIn, aiming to accelerate gender equality through economic empowerment. It’s an important message and one that businesses need to take on board for the benefit of staff, customers and their own performance. We intend exploring this concept with our diverse, and inspirational group of speakers”, said Mr Kay.

Guests will be treated to a two-course luncheon with live entertainment, with plenty of opportunities to network during the afternoon.

It is anticipated that this in-demand event will sell out. Tickets are available at business-sa.com/events.
