The South Australian Business Chamber has announced the return of the South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Awards in 2024, following the resounding success of its inaugural program last year.

In partnership with the State Government, these awards honour and celebrate the remarkable contributions our local businesses make to the social, environmental, and economic wellbeing of our state.

With recognition spanning a diverse array of categories including Family Business of the Year and Indigenous Business of the Year, a total of 12 business award categories and 14 export award categories are open for nominations.

This year sees the introduction of a new category, The SA Governor’s Award for Business Achievement in Gender Equity. The award will be presented by the Governor of South Australia, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, who has long been an advocate for gender equity.

All nominees for category awards will automatically be considered for two prestigious major awards to be presented on the night by the Premier of South Australia, Peter Malinauskas, South Australian Business of the Year and South Australian Exporter of the Year.

Winners will be recognised during a black-tie Gala Dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 11 October 2024, which will feature entertainment from legendary Australian music artist Groove Terminator

The winner of South Australian Exporter of the Year will automatically be entered as a finalist for the Australian Exporter of the Year awards, held in Canberra in November 2024.

South Australian Premier, Peter Malinauskas says the awards play an important role in recognising the outstanding achievements of South Australian businesses over what has been a record-breaking past 12 months for the state’s economy.

Excellence in our business community strengthens our economy, attracts talent to our state, and furthers our reputation nationally and internationally as a home to world-class products and services, and as a great place to do business.

Equally, exporters have helped drive our economy over the past year, with SA leading the stats month after month, outperforming the rest of the nation for export growth.

We’ve also seen the delivery of record low unemployment numbers, while SA’s economy has for the first time been recognised as Australia’s number one by CommSec.

I encourage all South Australian businesses and exporters to consider nominating for this year’s awards and making sure they’re appropriately recognised for their invaluable contribution to our state and its economy.”

South Australian Business Chamber CEO Andrew Kay, expressed confidence in the return of the awards in 2024, following the success of last year’s event.

Last year was a celebration of businesses who achieved excellence in incredibly challenging times,” he said.

We honoured businesses that weathered the storm of the pandemic and emerged stronger on the other side.”

South Australian businesses have continued to shine during an extended period of uncertainty. I am confident this year we will see even more businesses who are excelling in their fields, deserving of recognition”, Mr Kay added.

Anthony Kittel, CEO and Managing Director of REDARC Group who won back-to-back awards last year, and in 2022 at the standalone export awards said, We were delighted to be announced as winner of the SA Exporter of the Year in 2023 and 2022.

These successes provide a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment to our incredibly smart team who innovate, manufacture, and sell our world-class portable power systems to global customers in the Overlanding, RV, Trucking, Mining, Defence and Space sectors.

We are looking forward to participating again this year and can’t wait to see the high calibre of SA businesses who are recognised for all their hard work and achievements”, he added.

More than 250 businesses contributed to over 600 nominations across 24 categories in 2023.

Nominations for the awards are now open at sabusinesschamber.com.au/awards.
