Hotel analytics firm STR has reported that hotel occupancy across greater metropolitan Adelaide in February 2024 was the highest of any February on record.

According to the report, each night of February saw an average of 8,086 hotel rooms occupied, an extra 890 rooms every single night in February 2023.

The report attributes the record numbers to the line-up of festivals including Adelaide Fringe and Adelaide Festival, as well as major conferences and a packed-out” P!NK concert at Adelaide Oval.

The latest insights published by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) show a 9% increase in visitation to the city on the first weekend of the Fringe Festival compared to last year, and an 8% increase in visitation on the second weekend, which both fall in February.

Jordan Tomopoulos, Advisor, Economic Research for AEDA says, We know the Adelaide Fringe is a major draw card for international and interstate artists and visitors”.

This year there have been a number of key events that have boosted hotel occupancy, from Valentine’s Day to WOMADelaide.

We know people who stay in the city and spend with city retailers”.
